Level Units Are the Whole Job
Almost every kitchen problem traces back to the base units. Older houses rarely have a level floor or a straight wall, so units that were simply pushed into place end up with doors that do not line up, drawers that catch and a worktop with a visible gap behind it.
Getting the run level and packed properly takes longer at the start and saves the rest of the job. Worktops are then scribed to the wall rather than sealed over a gap, and doors and drawers adjusted at the end so the gaps run even across the whole kitchen.

Three Things Worth Deciding Early
Getting these settled before the strip-out keeps the job moving and the price steady.
Keep It or Move It
Keeping the sink, hob and appliances roughly where they are keeps the cost down. Moving them means new pipe and cable runs, which is doable but changes the job — worth pricing before you commit to a design.
Laminate, Wood or Stone
Laminate and wood are cut and fitted on site the same week. Quartz and granite are templated once the units are in, then made and fitted after — usually a week or two later, with a temporary top in between.
Everything On Site First
Most customers order their own kitchen from a supplier they like. Whoever supplies it, having every unit, door, handle and appliance on site before we start is what stops a job stalling halfway.

Kitchen Fitting FAQs
The questions we get asked most before a kitchen job starts.
Will you fit a kitchen we have bought ourselves?
Yes, and that is how most of our kitchen work happens. Buy from whichever supplier you like the look of and we will fit it. Just make sure the full order — units, doors, handles, panels and appliances — is on site before the start date, because a missing end panel can hold up a whole run.
How long does a kitchen take to fit?
A like-for-like replacement in the same layout is usually around a week. Changing the layout, moving services, retiling and decorating takes longer, and a stone worktop adds a gap in the middle while it is templated and made. You will get a realistic timescale with your quote rather than an optimistic one.
Will we be without a kitchen the whole time?
For part of it. There are days with no sink and no cooker, and there is no way round that. We plan the order of works to get the sink and an appliance back as early as we sensibly can, and tell you at the quote stage which days to expect to be without.
Do you handle the plumbing, gas and electrics?
We manage the job and bring in the right trades for each stage. Anything involving gas is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and new electrical circuits are notifiable work handled by a qualified electrician — that side gets done properly and signed off, not bodged in behind a unit.
Can we just replace doors and worktops?
Often, yes. If the carcasses are sound and the layout still works, new doors, handles and worktops transform a kitchen for a fraction of a full replacement. We will tell you honestly whether your existing units are worth keeping or whether you would be putting good money after bad.
